JACKSON, DONALD, JONATHAN (MY LINE), RACHEL, HANNAH DELITHA, POLLY, LOUISE, ELIZABETH (BETTY), AUTHURLIE AND MARTHA. JONATHAN left Mo. after 1850 and moved first to IOWA then NEBRASKA but some of the family remained in Mo.  I have a letter from the Moniteau County Historical Society that says that JONATHAN AND JOSHUA MURRAY are listed as purchasing land near McGIRK prior to 1840. Was this the blacksmiths that changed the name of the town to California? Do you any other information about this, and the Durnil families?

Surnames: BAILEY TWITCHELL HIGHTOWER
Submitter: Linda Brooks
Date:

The HIGHTOWER's were in Virginia until at least 1820. The next information that I have is that a number of the children were in California, Moniteau Co. I don't know when they migrated. Eliza HIGHTOWER married Gideon Price BAILEY (BALEY) in 1843 in the home of her brother, John, and his wife, Mary Jane Hightower, probably in California. Gideon Price BAILEY was born in Bowling, Kentucky, but he and Eliza are in the Moniteau County in the 1850 census. Nancy Jane HIGHTOWER (b. 1806, probably in Virginia) married someone named CORN and later to someone named LANGLEY. Frances HIGHTOWER (b. 1817, probably in Virginia) was still in California, Missouri in 1859. I don't think she ever married. Polly HIGHTOWER, b. 1818, probably married first to a CORN and later to a LANGLEY. Any information that could be shared would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Linda
