Jean Evelyn Anthony, 90, formerly of Holts Summit, Mo., passed away on Monday, January 17, 2022 at her daughter’s home in Union, Mo.<br/><br/>She was born on March 24, 1931 in Clarksburg, Mo., to Roy and Beryl (Lawson) Springer. She was married to James Anthony who passed in 1988 and to this union, her children were born.<br/><br/>Jean was a graduate of Tipton High School, and started her career at the Pants Factory. She held various jobs until she became a homemaker. After raising her children, Jean went back to work at Charles E. Still Hospital retiring in July 1995. <br/><br/>She was past president of Community Betterment program, a past den mother and scout leader, and a member of First United Methodist Church.<br/> <br/>Jean kept her mind sharp by embroidering and working puzzles. She loved tending her flower gardens and feeding the birds that visited her home. Jean enjoyed playing bingo with friends but most of all, she cherished time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for her caring heart, warm hugs, and her homemade noodles.<br/><br/>Survivors include: her children, Mark Anthony (Cindy) of Topsham, Me., Gary Anthony (Patricia) of Fulton, Mo., Brenda Atkins (Steve) of Holts Summit, Mo., and Rebecca Iler (Doug) of Union, Mo.; brother, Jerry Springer of Salisbury, Mo.; ten grandchildren, Danielle Russell, Aaron Atkins, David Anthony, Jessica Anthony, Crystal Anthony, Amanda Gortney, Alisa Iler, Cody Anthony, Brent Anthony, and Micah Anthony; and 13 great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Anthony, Aubrey Anthony, Zoey Anthony, Greyson Anthony, Willow Daravong, and River Duravong, Carter Russell, Colten Russell, Luke Atkins, Tyler Atkins, Gillian Atkins, Braxton Gortney, and Clark Anthony.<br/><br/>Jean was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Merlyn Springer.<br/><br/>Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. on Friday, January 21, 2022. <br/> <br/>A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 22, 2022 in the Freeman Chapel. Graveside services will follow at the Moreau Cemetery in Tipton, Mo. <br/><br/>In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Big Brothers and Big Sisters or Mercy Hospice.<br/> <br/>Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.<br/>

Jean Evelyn Anthony, 90, formerly of Holts Summit, Mo., passed away on Monday, January 17, 2022 at her daughter’s home in Union, Mo.

She was born on March 24, 1931 in Clarksburg, Mo., to Roy and Beryl (Lawson) Springer. She was married to James Anthony who passed in 1988 and to this union, her children were born.

Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. on Friday, January 21, 2022.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 22, 2022 in the Freeman Chapel. Graveside services will follow at the Moreau Cemetery in Tipton, Mo.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Big Brothers and Big Sisters or Mercy Hospice.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.
